Wade’s Story
In the fall of 2007, Wade’s journey into yoga began.
Initially exploring the concept of yoga to stay in shape, it wasn't long before the aspects of this transformative practice started seeping into Wade’s everyday life. For several years, Wade practiced yoga sporadically until making a concerted effort toward a fully dedicated practice after being diagnosed with a degenerative spinal condition. "Keep your core strong” was the recommendation of the physician, with this prognosis.
Soon thereafter, Wade applied for training at Yoga Shanti in Sag Harbor in 2012 at the urging of one of his Hatha teachers. With the acceptance into this prestigious yoga studio, Wade found himself under the tutelage of Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman. With this training, Wade was introduced to a much deeper understanding of all eight limbs of yoga. Wade also had the privilege to study under Richard Freeman and Richard Rosen, as well other highly trained yogis who performed mentoring duties with their students.
After graduating in the summer of 2013 and attaining his 300-hour certification, Wade hit the ground running by starting teaching classes that September and hasn’t stopped since. Though there have been many ups and downs on Wade’s yogic path, he believes it’s important to practice what he preaches and never give up. He continues to look for valuable learning opportunities in every instance that comes his way and this persistence has since led Wade to complete an additional 200 hour certification training as well as mentor those that seek his guidance.
Specializing in a mix of Hatha & Vinyasa (shoulder stand/Sarvangasana being one of his favorite asanas) and using wise words from Pema Chödrön with a mix of Stoicism, Wade’s goal is to make the practice accessible to all levels of practitioners. Providing students with a sense of confidence and a clearer understanding of what yoga can bring to one’s life has and always will be paramount in Wade’s teaching.
Growing up on the East End of Long Island as the son of a commercial fisherman, Wade has carried on the family tradition of working on the sea. The demanding and strenuous nature of this work instilled in him a deep appreciation for those who endure long hours and face the world's toughest challenges. Motivated by his upbringing, Wade is dedicated to offering a refuge for hard-working individuals through the practice of yoga, helping them find balance and renewal amidst their daily struggles.
In 2014 Wade joined North Fork Yoga Shala in Greenport Long Island, where he continues to teach and where he has found his sangha.
